They assume a single blunt metal-loss defect, no cracking, no dents/gouges, and pressure loading only. A real disposition (repair, pressure reduction, reassessment interval) must come from a qualified pipeline integrity engineer, using a full RSTRENG effective-area analysis of the measured defect profile where warranted. Verify all inputs against your ILI/field data.
